[link] That's the first thing I thought of when I saw this. Although there are differences, it still strikes me.
I think with a little different framing(move the frame up, so the sheet around your waist is at the bottom of the frame, and move you just a teeeeeensy bit farther right in the frame), it'd be a bit stronger, and you may like it better showing your whole back and head, instead of cropped off like that.
Seems a little blue too. If you're using Photoshop Ctrl(or the Apple key on a Mac)+Shift+U is the Desaturate command. It'll remove all color. But if you are *wanting* it to look blue and white, like a faux-cyanotype, then you might want to take it even more blue so there's some good contrast, and use some grunge brushes in the same color range to add some textures to make it look like handmade papers..... All kinds of stuff you could do. This image has the potential to be super-strong.
Good job.

i wanted my head and stuff in it, but i was getting so frustrated because i had it on a tripod and timer and i just wasn't getting it the way i wanted. the reason i desaturated and toned it is because the photo was originally super dark, and i had to lighten it and in the process it got really grainy... i couldn't see doing much more with it besides what i did. i'll try again and see what i can do with it later. thanks <3

I actually like the grain. I thought it was intended. I don't want you to feel like it's a bad piece. I know I said a lot of things could be better, but it's a really nice piece already.
If you're concerned about light, see if you can retake it during the day, close to a window. I like it on the bed though. Lets everything be simple so we can concentrate on you in the piece.
If that light's too harsh, put a white sheet over the window to scrim the light. It'll diffuse it and make it a lot softer, but you should be able to get an exposure off it just fine.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
The Cutting Edge is a weekly article that features brand new selected high quality art products that caught our eyes. Check out the cutting edge prints some of your fellow artists have submitted in the past week!
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
